Happy Month of May. And Happy Mother’s Day too. Once I became a mom I can appreciate all the effort my mom did for me when I was younger and growing up. It is a lot of work but it is also the most rewarding experience to be a mom. I am truly grateful and life is wonderful. May is the perfect time of the year as things warm up and all the blossoms on the trees smell so good and look so beautiful and the gardens are coming into bloom. No wonder May is the busiest time of the year for Real Estate because a beautiful front garden gives instant curb appeal and can make a home look so picturesque.
April Sales figures are out and as you can see in the below graph, the average price for homes in Edmonton has been steadily increasing which is the opposite of most markets right now. April and May are historically the busiest times of the year for our Real Estate market with more sales and higher prices. April so far continued this trend but we have seen a few homes where they have been doing price reductions so May could be softer than expected. It is so important to price a home right first time so it sells quick and therefore you get the most for it.
Even though Edmonton is still so affordable, the biggest uncertainty for buyers right now is still the tariffs. It may be another month or two until people figure out the new normal so not all that different to what happened at the start of the pandemic and then it will be business as usual.
Back to the Basics: What 20 Years of Yoga Has Taught Me
Did you know I’ve been practicing hot yoga for almost 20 years?
It’s one of the few things in life that has remained constant for me—something I turn to almost every day, whenever my schedule allows. Over the years, yoga has become more than just a workout. It’s my sanctuary. My reset button. My reminder to slow down and tune in.
One class I never miss is the Hot Foundation class. I take it once a week, and every time, it brings me back to the roots of my practice. In that heated room, as sweat drips and the instructor’s voice guides us through each pose, I’m reminded that yoga is just as much a mental practice as a physical one.
Holding a challenging pose for five long breaths while staying focused, calm, and present—it’s not easy for me. I find it takes courage, patience and a commitment to show up for myself, exactly as I am. Every class is a new opportunity to let go, to breathe deeper, and to lean into the discomfort that leads to growth. After all these years, I’m still learning. Still being humbled. And still deeply grateful for this practice.
What keeps you grounded? I’d love to hear what practices help you reset and stay present. I always enjoy reading your stories.
We managed to get away for the weekend and enjoy the Rockies for a relaxing couple of days. Ahhhhh! Breakfast is ready.
